June is National Safety Month, a month set aside by the National Safety Council to communicate the importance of safety at work, home and on the road. The goal of this observance is to highlight some of the causes of preventable injuries and deaths so that we as a country can be educated to help avoid accidents as much as possible.
At Millwood, safety is our number one priority. Our company’s mission is that all who come in contact with Millwood would clearly see the love of Christ in all that we do. Our team members live this mission day in and day out by taking the safety of themselves and others seriously.
In the past two months, Millwood celebrated accident-free milestones at several of our locations, including Waterford, NY; Glenwillow, OH; Florence, SC and Lugoff, SC. Many of our teams at other locations across the U.S. are on target to meet accident-free milestones as well.
Being able to reach significant safety milestones is an impressive accomplishment. Each team member contributes to a culture of safety by following our safety policies and procedures, being aware of potential hazards and reporting any safety concerns.
"Team member participation in safety initiatives is vital,” Safety Manager Mondell Elliott said. “When our team members take ownership of safety, they not only help us identify potential hazards, but also contribute to creating a culture that values safety.”
Our safety team performs regular safety trainings and audits at every facility to ensure our team members are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to work safely from the day they start at Millwood. The safety team also regularly assesses Millwood’s safety protocols and updates them as needed.
