Millwood’s pillar award is the most prestigious award given by the company. The award represents our four pillars: trust, discipleship, integrity and servitude. All of Millwood strives to act in accordance with these pillars to the best of their ability. For those who go above and beyond, we acknowledge them with the pillar award.
Toward the end of the calendar year, team members at each facility nominate a fellow team member who they believe best exemplifies the four pillars. Their nominations include testimonies and examples of the nominee’s dedication to each of the four pillars. After winners are chosen at each location, nominations are then opened up company-wide for a salaried team member. The corporate winner is then chosen from the pool of nominations by Millwood’s executive team. Winners are announced at a special ceremony during the Christmas party at each location, and the salaried winner is announced at the corporate Christmas party.
Nominees are often those team members who have had a profound effect on those around them, both at Millwood and the community. They are known as hard workers, team players and strong representatives of the values that Millwood holds dear. Though there are always many deserving nominees, only one is chosen per facility each year. The corporate pillar award can include any corporate team member as well as management-level team members from across the country.
This year’s corporate pillar winner was District Manager Matt Pacurar. Prior to his position as district manager, he was the plant manager of our Glenwillow, OH facility, which was the recipient of Millwood’s Best in Class award in 2021 in part due to Matt’s leadership along with the hard work of the team members there.
Matt, like all pillar winners, was chosen because of his representation of the four pillars.
“Matt has always been someone you can call for anything and trust that you will always get the right answer no matter what,” his nomination reads.
In terms of servitude, Matt is known for putting others first and prioritizing his team over himself.
“Matt is always for the people who work for him and around him, never out for himself,” said one anonymous nominator.
Discipleship is another important aspect of the pillar award. Matt is dedicated to helping those around him grow and spreading the message of Jesus Christ.
“Matt is always helping others around him grow and become better as people, not just as team members,” said another nominator. “He puts forward his belief in the culture of the company.”
Matt also represents integrity by remaining transparent and fair in all he does.
“In my years of working with Matt, he has always been fair, honest and open,” his nomination reads. “I took on a new role, and he has helped make me successful not only in my position, but as a person.”
