When nine year-old Kendall Pikor came to Millwood with her three older brothers on August 1, she was a little nervous. They would be presenting their projects for 4H in the hope that Millwood would sponsor them. Her 11 year-old brothers Cooper, Parker and Sutton had all been in 4H before her, but this was her first year participating.
To many, the end of August means a new school year, a new schedule and, often, a new dorm room. While these changes are exciting, to some they can be dangerous. The sweltering heat various regions face can create many health problems, while the weight of moving boxes can often lead to neck, back and shoulder injuries.
Recently a Wisconsin pallet shop site manager was fined $25,000, put on 2 years probation, and made to pay $18,000 in restitution to customers for fraudulently using a heat treatment stamp. To some people there may be grey areas in the use of the stamp, especially when considering used pallets. However, a review of the regulations should remove any doubt.
