Trade Show Tuesday: Modex 2022 Recap

On March 28-31, several members of Millwood’s sales team attended their first in-person trade show in two years, Modex 2022 hosted by MHI (Material Handling Industries) in Atlanta, GA. The team was supported by Trade Show Manager Paige Greene and resulted in hundreds of new leads for Millwood over the course of four days.

Representing the sales team were Will Bayliff, Adam Day, Marcus Alonzo, Kyle Countryman, Brian Clayton and Tonya Taylor. Mark Simpson provided support and assisted with setting up and tearing down the booth. Rich Evick also attended as a product manager, with Modex being his final trade show before his retirement from Millwood at the end of March.

This year’s showcased products included the Series 500 Semi-Automatic Turntable Stretch Wrapper, the Series 700 Automatic Turntable Stretch Wrapper and a wide variety of pallets. In addition to our own booth, two other exhibitors used Millwood pallets to display their products. In appreciation for the branded pallets these booths promoted Millwood using signage and business cards Millwood provided.

Millwood’s booth featured two new rotating pallet displays, which added the necessary movement that draws attendees into the booth. These displays helped capture interest that may have otherwise been lost due to the absence of the Series 800 Automatic Stretch Wrapper, typically a booth staple due to its dynamic movement. By leaving the Series 800 at home, Millwood was able to save money in freight and labor costs in addition to creating more space to showcase pallets.

Modex 2022 overall was a successful event. Beyond connecting with customers and vendors, attendees had the opportunity to attend seminars and keynote speeches (and even a puppy play-pen) to learn more about the industry. This year’s speakers included Erika Alexander, Chief Global Operations Officer for Marriott International; Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Chief Medical Correspondent for CNN and Shaquille O'Neal, former NBA player. Shaq’s speech was a particularly popular one, with many attendees disappearing from the show floor to hear him speak on Tuesday.

Trade Show Manager Paige Greene had a family emergency before the end of the show and had to fly home early. The Millwood team rallied behind her and successfully navigated tearing down the booth and tying up loose ends after the show.

“The team was ready to help with whatever I needed, which included the complicated process of confirming our labor services and freight among other things,” Paige said. “My Millwood family was clear: they would take care of everything in Atlanta, and my only responsibility was to get home. It was such a relief to know that they had things under control, and I really appreciate the team for their support.”

Millwood is thankful and excited to get back to in-person events where we can meet and connect with a variety of industry vendors and customers. Thank you to MHI for organizing another successful Modex!
