Millwood Team Members Embrace the Spirit of Giving at the 15th Annual Shop Til You Drop Event

Team members from Millwood’s corporate office in Vienna, OH gathered for the 15th Annual Shop Til You Drop event, which benefits local non-profit organizations in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

In teams of two, volunteers shopped at Walmart using shopping lists provided by each organization.

From men’s jeans and children's sneakers to household essentials like towels and vacuum cleaners, our team shopped with the specific needs of these organizations in mind. Wish lists for specific children were also provided, which included things like books, science kits, bedding, dolls, action figures and toy cars.

“It was a joy shopping for the boys on our list. I felt as though we get to know a little about them because of their requested choices even though we did not get to meet them,” Angie Hyatt, corporate chaplain, said. “I know without a shadow of doubt each person will be touched and feel the love of Christ.

Making a real, tangible impact on those in need is what team members expressed as their favorite aspect of this event.

“I love being able to pick out quality toys and household items and know that they are going to people who desperately need them,” corporate team member Carrie Anderson said. “It actually puts you in the CHRISTmas spirit. The days go by so fast that it’s just a fun time to remember its better to give than to receive.”

Corporate team member Sherry Mansfield, who has been participating in Shop Til You Drop for eight years, echoed this sentiment.

“To be able to give back is incredible. It’s so heartwarming to be able to shop and give back to all these men, women and children who may just be in need of hats and gloves when many of us take these simplest of things for granted,” she said. “We know that it is going to touch someone else’s life and the happiness and joy that simple item brings to them. We know that Christ is working through us to them.”

After shopping, the team gathered in fellowship for a festive lunch.

“I enjoyed the team members’ company, traveling and shopping together and fellowshipping with lunch after wards,” Angie said. “It sparked the Christmas spirit.”

Millwood’s mission is that all who come in contact with our company would clearly see the love of Christ in all that we do. The Shop Til You Drop event is an illustration of that commitment. As we head into the holiday season celebrating the birth of Jesus, we are reminded of the opportunity we each have to serve as a beacon of His love to those around us.
