This October, the De Pere and New Hope operations participated in fundraising and awareness initiatives for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Team members from each plant were enthusiastic about raising money for this cause since it has touched many of their lives. They pulled together as a team to make positive impacts in their respective communities and helped those in need.

This is the second year our De Pere plant raised money for breast cancer awareness. In 2018, they held a shift vs. shift penny war, passed out educational materials and had a dunk tank where team members could dunk the plant manager, admin and supervisors. Through these fundraisers, they raised over $500 in the first year.

This year, they kicked off donations with a steak dinner. They hosted a second soccer jersey event and purchased a national team soccer jersey from the country of each team member’s heritage. They updated their employee board with each employee's picture in their national team jersey, and then collected donations for each jersey. They also held a raffle for two Packers tickets and a bag of hand warmers. Through these fundraisers, the team members more than doubled their total from the previous year, raising over $1,200.

The New Hope plant raised money by selling sodas and cooked meals as well as having a fundraising cookout. They also partnered with Pastor Steven Rivera who baked homemade flan to sell. They also painted their forklifts pink with a breast cancer awareness logo so that it could be seen throughout the plant. The New Hope team raised $1,700 for breast cancer awareness, exceeding their goal of $1,500.

These initiatives provided team members with a way to be a part of a goal larger than themselves.

“The event, for me, is not only about raising money and being a blessing to the community. It is about engaging and inspiring the team to be more,” said Chad Radke, De Pere plant manager.
